Derrick White's Injury Woes Continue
Second Toe Fracture Sidelines Celtics Guard
Previous Toe Surgery Complicates Recovery Timeframe
Derrick White, the Boston Celtics' point guard, has suffered a new injury that will sideline him for an undetermined amount of time. White has been diagnosed with a second-toe fracture in his left foot, the team announced on Tuesday.
The Celtics said the injury is new and separate from the toe injury that White suffered last season. White had surgery on his toe in August 2020 and missed the start of the 2020-21 season.
White has been limited by the toe injury this season, missing several games. He has averaged 11.2 points and 3.4 assists in 29 games played.
The Celtics are currently 24-24 and in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. They will face the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
White's injury is a significant blow to the Celtics, who are already without several key players, including Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart.
The Celtics are hoping that White will be able to return to action soon, but the timeline for his recovery is uncertain.
