Atletico Madrid Edge Dortmund in Champions League Quarterfinal First Leg

Narrow Victory Gives Spanish Side Slight Advantage

Rodrigo De Paul and Samuel Lino on Target

Madrid, Spain - Atletico Madrid emerged victorious in a thrilling UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg encounter against Borussia Dortmund, narrowly edging their opponents 2-1 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Wednesday.

The home side took an early lead through midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, who found the net in the fourth minute. Dortmund responded well and dominated possession for much of the first half, but failed to convert their chances.

The German outfit came out stronger in the second half and equalized through Karim Adeyemi in the 54th minute. However, Atletico Madrid regained the lead just seven minutes later when Samuel Lino scored his side's second goal.

Despite Dortmund's best efforts, they were unable to find another equalizer, and Atletico Madrid held on for a crucial victory. The Spanish side will now take a slim one-goal advantage into the second leg, which will be played at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund on March 15.
