A young woman has recounted the harrowing experience of saving her 1-year-old child after the yacht they were on sank off the coast of Sicily.
A Mother's Courage
Charlotte Golunski, 18, said she momentarily lost hold of her baby during the chaos of the sinking but managed to grab him just as he was about to be swept away.
"I had to use all my strength," she told reporters.
Tragic Incident
The incident occurred on Thursday when the luxury yacht named the Bayesian, carrying 10 crew members and 12 passengers, sank near the island of Ustica.
One man has died, and six people are still missing.
Heroic Actions
Golunski's quick thinking and strength saved her child's life.
She held onto him tightly as they floated in the water until they were rescued by a nearby fishing boat.
Ongoing Search and Rescue
Coast Guard vessels and helicopters are continuing to search for the missing passengers and crew members.
The cause of the sinking is still under investigation.
